You're saying: "I'm different. Than you mom. Than my old friends. Only my best friend understands me. I wish I had a best friend. I wish I had a boyfriend. I wish I didn't feel so alone."

Introduction for Adults

"Am I ever going to have breasts? Will boys ever like me? I don't want to have my period. I wish adults would stop talking at me and listen. I wish they would stop saying "I know what you're going through." They don't know. I think about so much. I want to make the right choices but I also want people to like me. I want to be able to say This is Me and have people listen. Care. I don't want to be quiet all the time–fear I'll say something stupid, when really I know what I'm talking about.

As a young woman, you deserve a place where you are allowed to dream as big as your heart desires. A place where you feel honored and celebrated as you decide who you want to be as an adult. A private space where you can hear what is calling out to you and girls like you, as you learn the delicate balance of being true to yourself and generous to others.

Grrlstories invites you to share real stories of girls like you. Stories of girls who dare and who dream and who sometimes fail. Stories of girls who feel weighed down with pressure to be someone they're not, and stories of girls who have said, "No, I don't care what anyone says, I'm choosing my own path."

Grrlstories believes that you have a choice in the story you create for yourself, and that by witnessing other girls' lives you can create a powerful, personal story of your own.

Funding of Grrlstories.org is made possible by grants through Blue Earth Alliance, a nonprofit corporation that has 501(c)(3) status. Information concerning contributions and Blue Earth Alliance is available upon request. http://www.blueearth.org/
